Maker Faire Rome 2026: What to See, How to Get There & Where to Stay

A robot football match. A prototype that sparks an idea. A workshop that turns a passing interest into something you want to try for yourself. Maker Faire Rome brings technology off the screen and puts you in touch with the people building it.

The 2026 event takes place from 23 to 25 October at the Gazometro Ostiense in Rome. If you are travelling from outside the city, a little planning will help you get more from the trip: decide what you want to see, work out your transport and choose where to stay.

This guide covers the essentials and explains when Hotel Domidea in East Rome could be a practical base for your visit.

Maker Faire Rome 2026: dates, opening hours and tickets

Maker Faire Rome runs from Friday 23 to Sunday 25 October 2026, opening 10am–7pm. The venue is the Gazometro Ostiense, with entry at Via del Commercio 9–11.

Tickets are sold online only. The published standard day ticket costs €13, with €8 concessions for eligible visitors, plus ticketing fees.

When booking, select an entry time between 10am and 2pm; you may arrive from that time onwards. Check the official ticket page for current conditions, availability, family options and eligibility for concessions.

What to see at Maker Faire Rome

With so much to explore, it is easy to rush between stands without taking much in. Choose two or three interests before you arrive, then leave room for the unexpected.

Robotics and AI in action

One highlight is the Italian Open of Humanoid Soccer, featuring football-playing humanoid robots. It offers a tangible way to see how machines combine perception, balance and decision-making.

The organisers have also announced a scientific workshop on Sunday 25 October for visitors interested in the research behind the demonstrations. Check the programme before planning around a particular session.

Workshops, talks and conversations worth having

Do more than take photographs of unusual inventions. Ask exhibitors what problem they are solving, who might use their technology and what needs to happen next.

Use the official workshop and talk programme to build your schedule. Sessions are included in admission, although some require advance registration. Check individual listings before you commit to a particular plan.

Visiting Maker Faire with children

The Education & Kids programme includes coding, educational robotics and science activities. MakeLab's hands-on stations are listed as free, with no booking required, within the event; admission to the fair still needs to be arranged.

For a family visit, a few absorbing activities can be more rewarding than a packed checklist. Match activities to your children's interests, allow time for breaks and consider staying overnight if the journey home would make the day too long.

Visiting for business? Build a trip around the fair

For founders, researchers and business visitors, Maker Faire can be part of a wider Rome itinerary. You might use one day to explore projects and another for conversations with contacts you have identified in advance.

Tecnopolo Roma is among the announced participants, presenting the business ecosystem across its Tiburtino and Castel Romano sites.

If you also have meetings in the eastern part of Rome, an East Rome hotel may suit the trip. Choose your base around the full itinerary, allowing for each address, appointment time and transfer cost.

How to get to Maker Faire Rome

By Metro or train

The organisers recommend Piramide or Garbatella on Metro Line B, or Roma Ostiense railway station. Allow for a walk of roughly one kilometre from these transport hubs to the venue.

From Roma Termini, take Metro B towards Laurentina. Check ATAC's official service information before travelling, particularly if you need step-free access or working lifts.

By car

Parking around the Gazometro is limited and paid. The organisers encourage visitors to use public transport where possible.

If you are driving to Rome, decide where to leave your car and how you will make the last part of the journey. Parking at your hotel and continuing by another means can be worth considering, but compare the whole journey rather than assuming it will be cheaper or quicker.

From Rome's airports

From Fiumicino Airport, the regional FL1 train serves Roma Ostiense. From Ciampino, you will need an airport connection followed by urban transport, or a road transfer.

Your best route depends on whether you are heading straight to the event or checking in first. For access to the fair, use the organisers' Gazometro travel guide.

Where to stay for Maker Faire Rome: is Hotel Domidea right for you?

Hotel Domidea is a four-star hotel at Via Raffaele Costi 17 in East Rome, with access via the A24 and Rome's GRA ring road. The Gazometro is in Ostiense, so you will need to plan a transfer between the hotel and the event.

Domidea is worth considering if you are arriving by car, have other appointments in East Rome or are planning a longer stay. If being within walking distance of the fair is your priority, take the location into account before booking.

The hotel's published services include a 24-hour reception, free Wi-Fi, private outdoor parking and an unguarded garage subject to availability, taxi booking and bookable connections to the Metro.

Check rooms, rates and booking conditions for your dates. Travelling with colleagues or family, or unsure about transport? Email info@hoteldomidea.com with your dates, party size and expected arrival time.

Getting from Hotel Domidea to Maker Faire

One option to discuss with reception is a connection to Rebibbia, followed by Metro B towards Laurentina. Get off at Piramide or Garbatella and walk the final stretch to the venue.

The hotel's Courtesy Bus must be booked and is subject to availability; confirm operating times and charges. It is not a direct shuttle to Maker Faire. Plan your return as well, rather than assuming a hotel service will coincide with the event's closing time.

Alternatively, ask reception for help booking a taxi. Journey times will depend on traffic, waiting times and your chosen transport.

Planning a one-day visit or a weekend

For one day, choose a main theme, a scheduled session and some unstructured time. A focused plan makes it easier to stop and talk to exhibitors rather than simply passing through.

For two days, split your interests: explore demonstrations first, then return for conversations and deeper sessions. Check which admission tickets you need for each day.

If the journey to Rome is long, consider arriving the night before. If you want to stay until closing, a further night can save you from squeezing the fair, a hotel transfer and the journey home into one day.

Make the trip happen: book your Rome stay

Give yourself time to enjoy the fair. Choose your sessions, plan your transport and reserve the room that fits your trip.
